Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo Wins NXT Heritage Cup – On the June 24 episode of WWE NXT, Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo reached a major milestone in his career by capturing the NXT Heritage Cup Championship — his first singles title in WWE. Stacks defeated former tag team partner and mentor Tony D’Angelo in a dramatic 2-1 decision under the traditional British rounds format.
The bout was intense from the start, with Tony D’Angelo scoring the first fall in Round 2 after landing a powerful Spear. However, Stacks quickly responded in Round 4, catching Tony with a well-timed small package to even the score at 1-1. The match was not only a contest of athleticism but one heavily affected by ongoing tensions within The D’Angelo Family.
Luca Crusifino, who had been increasingly at odds with D’Angelo in recent weeks, played a critical and controversial role in the finish. In an attempt to neutralize Stacks’ backup at ringside, Crusifino inadvertently struck Tony in the back with a bucket. The mishap gave Stacks the opening he needed — he capitalized with a suplex followed by a Shining Wizard to secure the third fall and claim the cup.
Following the loss, a furious Tony D’Angelo decked Luca Crusifino with a punch, signaling further fracture in the once-dominant D’Angelo Family.
The victory marks a turning point for Stacks, who has now stepped out of D’Angelo’s shadow to establish himself as a solo threat. The NXT Heritage Cup, previously held by Noam Dar before he vacated due to injury, now enters a new era with Stacks as its champion.
