AJ Francis Calls Out NXT Champion Oba Femi – TNA star AJ Francis is looking to make a big statement—by taking on WWE NXT Champion Oba Femi in what could be one of the most significant crossover bouts between the two promotions yet.
Speaking on the Muscle Memory, Francis didn’t hesitate when asked which NXT opponent he’d want to face. “I’ve been saying Oba. I’ve been saying that,” he confirmed, setting his sights on the dominant titleholder and issuing a bold challenge in the process.
Francis, who has been featured on NXT programming as part of the growing collaboration between WWE and TNA, referenced the unique working relationship between the companies as part of his reasoning. “Currently the TNA World Champion is a person who’s contracted [to] NXT… it wouldn’t be too crazy of an idea for the NXT world champion to be contracted to TNA,” he argued, pointing to Trick Williams’ current run as TNA World Champion while under WWE contract.
From there, Francis launched into a confident promo aimed directly at Oba Femi.
“I know that Oba be bullying these other boys, but he can’t bully me,” he said defiantly. “He can’t push me around like he do these other boys. He can’t throw me around like he do these other boys. I’m bigger than him. I’m stronger than him.”
While showing respect for some of Femi’s traits, Francis made it clear he believes he has the edge where it matters most: inside the ring. “I don’t have as good an accent as him… He got better hair than me. Yeah, okay. But we talking about in that ring. Come on, man, me and Oba. Let’s talk about it,” he added.
He closed by sending a message to Trick Williams and the NXT Universe: “Shout out Trick Willie, let me go… I’m gonna put Oba out of commission. I’m gonna make sure that we can have an NXT champion that TNA could be proud of.”
As TNA and WWE continue to expand their inter-promotional ties, a clash between Francis and Oba Femi would mark a major moment in today’s wrestling. Whether WWE picks up the challenge remains to be seen—but Francis has made his intentions crystal clear.
