Backstage News from WWE Backlash: St. Louis – Roster Changes, Jeff Cobb’s Debut, More – With WWE Backlash: St. Louis now in the rearview mirror, new backstage details have surfaced regarding the May 10 Premium Live Event held at the Enterprise Center in Missouri. Although the show featured major developments and surprise moments, things behind the curtain painted a quieter picture compared to WWE’s marquee events.
According to backstage sources, the overall atmosphere was described as subdued, with one WWE talent joking, “no one was here,” in reference to the noticeably trimmed-down five-match card. The scene was described as a stark contrast to WrestleMania weekend, where the locker room is typically buzzing and overcrowded.
Interestingly, while the event came together smoothly on-screen, many of the matches reportedly underwent changes throughout the weekend. Despite those shifts, the main event pitting Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena against Randy Orton was never in question and remained locked in as the headliner.
Several independent wrestling talents were used as extras throughout the night. Names such as Nixi XS, Mike Outlaw, Moses The Deliverer, and Skylar Sparks were cast in medical personnel roles during the show. Also spotted backstage were Campbell Meyer and referee Brandon Tolle, both familiar faces in independent circuits.
The Local Competitor Twitter account identified Austin Mulitalo as the performer who took an RKO during the show, continuing WWE’s trend of integrating unsigned talent into televised segments.
Meanwhile, Jeff Cobb’s debut was one of the night’s biggest surprises. Although there were prior rumors suggesting heavy international travel, sources indicate Cobb had been in the United States since Thursday. Following the event, he broke his social media silence and poked fun at misleading fans with a recent retirement tease. On X (formerly Twitter), Cobb posted:
“Thank you guys. I’m happy to say I beat retirement and I made it from muscle beach to STL in the nick of time, yeah!!!”
Cobb debuted at the climax of the United States Championship four-way match, attacking LA Knight and helping Jacob Fatu retain his title in controversial fashion. The moment capped off a night filled with storyline shifts and unexpected arrivals.
