Bryan Danielson Defeats Okada, Wheeler Yuta Aligns with Danielson – On the October 2nd episode of AEW Dynamite, commemorating the show’s fifth anniversary, Bryan Danielson faced Kazuchika Okada in a highly anticipated Title vs. Title match.
The bout took an unexpected turn in the closing moments when Claudio Castagnoli and PAC appeared at ringside, distracting both competitors. This distraction proved costly for Okada, as Danielson managed to counter a Rainmaker attempt and secured the pinfall victory.
After the match, the drama escalated when Castagnoli and PAC ambushed Danielson. While Claudio Castagnoli and PAC held him in place, Moxley said that he was fighting for something much bigger than himself.
“You think this is about me? Is that what you said? You think any of this is about me? Let’s get something through your simple-minded, blueberry-picking little brain. None of this is about me. None of this is what I want. I’m fighting for something much bigger than myself. Everything I’m gonna do is because I have to. Because no one else will, no one else can. If any of this was about me, I’d have put you out of your misery years ago,” Moxley said.
However, Yuta rushed the ring and made the save, stating that Castagnoli and PAC would have to go through him to get to Danielson. He challenged them to a confrontation, and Danielson explicitly dared the duo to face him and Yuta in a tag team match, which was subsequently confirmed for the 10/8 episode of AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday.
With this victory, Danielson successfully retained his AEW World Title, while Okada maintained his status as AEW Continental Champion—a title that was only on the line during the first 20 minutes of the match.
This encounter added to their storied rivalry, as Danielson previously defeated Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023, while Okada had bested Danielson at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18. The build-up to the October 8th match promises to intensify the ongoing conflict between these talented wrestlers and their respective factions.
