Former WWE Superstar Sunil Singh has shared an encouraging progress report as he continues recuperating from a frightening, near-fatal lung injury sustained during an independent wrestling match.
Singh, performing under his real name Gurv Sihra alongside his brother Harv Sihra as part of the Bollywood Boyz, wrestled at a Pure Power Wrestling card in Lethbridge, Alberta, on September 19. During the booking, Singh absorbed an impact from a routine maneuver he had performed thousands of times throughout his career. Although he managed to finish the match, he later discovered the severity of the trauma when medical scans revealed a collapsed right lung caused by rib damage cutting into his lung tissue.
After spending weeks undergoing close medical supervision—which initially barred him from working out or boarding airplanes due to lingering air leaks—Singh took to social media to share a major milestone in his rehabilitation.
Key Recovery Highlights
- Lung Function Restored: Fresh X-rays confirm that Singh’s lung tissue has returned to standard functionality, with only minimal air remaining trapped in his chest cavity.
- Travel Restrictions Active: Despite his internal healing progress, physicians have not yet cleared the veteran performer for commercial air travel.
- Clearance Anticipated: Singh remains optimistic that full medical approval for travel and physical activity is just around the corner.
Sharing his official update via social media, Singh expressed heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of encouragement from the wrestling community:
The road to recovery continues. X-Rays show my lungs are back to normal & there is very little air bubbles left in my chest-cavity from the collapsed lung. I still can’t fly at the moment, however, I should be cleared soon. Thank you all for your continued love & support.
The positive medical bulletin marks a massive turning point from his initial post-trauma checkups, where emergency room doctors confirmed that air was still leaking from his damaged tissue. With his body nearly fully healed, a return to normalcy is finally within reach for the seasoned independent competitor.
During their tenure with WWE from 2016 until their roster departures in 2021, the Bollywood Boyz made their mark on television screens nationwide, most notably serving as the flamboyant, dedicated managers and sidekicks to former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.
