WWE Launches Major Copyright Crackdown Against Streamers

WWE is reportedly escalating its efforts to target online streamers and content creators who post reaction videos, clips, and watch-along content tied to WWE programming.

According to a report from Fightful, WWE and its legal team have recently issued copyright strikes and takedown notices against multiple online personalities across several platforms.

Jeremy Lambert reported that WWE has been working with a company called StreamEnforcement to carry out the campaign.

Fightful Select stated that the company is using automated bot systems capable of scanning multiple online platforms simultaneously for unauthorized WWE-related content.

The crackdown has reportedly impacted creators on YouTube, Twitch, and social media platforms, with even smaller channels receiving strikes.

According to the report, reaction videos, short highlight clips, reviews, and watch-along content that creators previously believed fell under fair use protections are now being targeted more aggressively.

The report also noted that StreamEnforcement describes itself as a content protection company focused on combating unauthorized online distribution.

One notable connection involves StreamEnforcement co-founder Edward Muncey, who previously worked as UFC’s Senior Vice President of Technology.

With both UFC and WWE operating under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella, many believe WWE is now adopting a more aggressive anti-piracy strategy similar to UFC’s long-standing approach.

The timing of the reported crackdown also coincides with WWE’s major media transition following its streaming agreements with Netflix and ESPN.

Reports suggest WWE has become increasingly protective of its digital content footprint as the company continues shifting toward a streaming-focused business model.

Fightful also reported that the enforcement push is believed to be part of a broader internal effort to restructure WWE’s media rights strategy and clean up unauthorized online distribution.

The increased copyright enforcement comes during a period where WWE and TKO have also implemented major roster cuts and internal contract restructuring measures.

At this time, WWE has not publicly addressed the reports in detail.
