Rey Mysterio – This athlete made world history in sports as a WWE star and world heavyweight champion. He is recognised by the bright mask he wore during competitions. All his fans are eager to get their hands on it. Rey Mysterio is known for his favourite moves in the ring.
The famous wrestler was born on 12 December 1974 in Chula Vista (USA). At birth, the child was named Oscar Gutierrez Rubio. The boy had Mexican roots, so he spent his childhood in Mexico, where he became interested in sports, particularly wrestling. His first coach was his father’s brother, Rey Mysterio Sr., in whose honour the boy would soon take his nickname.
From 1989, Oscar trained intensively in wrestling in Mexico, as he was still too young and did not have a licence to compete in the United States. He made his debut that same year. From the age of 14, Oscar’s first nickname was ‘Colibri,’ and it was only at the age of 18 that his uncle allowed him to use his name. Ray Mysterio spent the entire 1990s in the rings of the United States, competing with various opponents. He fought all his fights wearing a mask, so no one knew the champion’s face. In 1999, he lost a match to Kevin Nash and was forced to remove his mask. After the match, the champion left for Mexico, where he entered the ring without a mask.

Since 2002, he has been performing in WWE, becoming a heavyweight champion. Here he reappeared wearing a mask. In 2005, he formed an alliance with Eddie Guerrero, who died in November of that year. On the day of the funeral, Rey Mysterio appeared in the ring without his mask as a sign of mourning, said goodbye to his friend and vowed to win the World Title.
His next ally was Batista, with whom Mysterio became WWE Tag Team Champion by defeating MNM. This victory was dedicated to the memory of Eddie Guerrero.
In 2006, he beat all the wrestlers at the Royal Rumble in Miami, setting two records (longest time in the ring and lightest weight wrestler in his category).
In 2011, due to a knee injury, Rey Mysterio lost the WWE Championship title to Alberto Del Rio. A year later, Rey returned to the ring, where he continues to compete to this day.
Big Show
The wrestler we know as Big Show was born on 8 February 1972. It should be noted right away that he is the only fighter who has managed to be a heavyweight champion in three categories at once. At the beginning of his career, he claimed to be the son of the famous wrestler Andre the Giant.
Big Show’s 2012 matches
2012 started off badly for Big Show, as the wrestler wanted to regain the world championship title, but he was unsuccessful. After that, Big Show decided to change categories and immediately fought Cody Rhodes. After this fight, Big Show became the new Intercontinental Champion and won the belt. But after a while, a rematch took place, where Big Show lost. By the way, his opponent didn’t even have to do anything, because he just entered the ring, performed a move, and was immediately awarded the victory.
Among other things, Big Show loves to speak with the voice of John Laurinaitis. It is worth noting one remarkable moment, namely the fight between John Cena and John Laurinaitis, where Big Show allowed his opponent to win. After that, Big Show began a feud with John Cena. Then there was another fight, the victory in which would allow Big Show to fight for the world title. The giant’s opponents in this fight were Chris Jericho, Kane, Miz and John Cena. In the end, the latter won, but after a while, Big Show managed to defeat Randy Orton, after which he officially became a contender for the world title, where his opponent was to be Sheamus. As mentioned above, the giant managed to defeat his opponent and take the title for himself.
Fights in 2014
At the very beginning of 2014, it was announced that Big Show would face Brock Lesnar in a ‘royal battle.’ The giant was unable to win, and viewers had to wait a long time for his return. He returned to the ring only at the beginning of spring, where he and Daniel Bryan managed to defeat Batista and Kane. After that, the famous wrestler mainly participated in tag team matches with Mark Henry until the end of 2014.
One moment is noteworthy, namely that at one of the shows, the giant tore down the Russian flag, causing discontent among the audience. After that, Big Show apologised, of course, but the attitude towards him remained the same. In conclusion, it is worth noting that in 2014, Show hardly participated in any major competitions, even though his fights are the highlight of any competition.
