Jericho, the first-ever AEW World Champion, has not appeared on AEW television since April 2025. Despite ongoing rumors linking him to WWE, he remains under contract with All Elite Wrestling until the end of 2025, according to Fightful Select. The report adds that unless an extension is signed or his deal is frozen, Jericho’s contract is expected to expire late next year.
Sources within AEW told Fightful that while Jericho’s name hasn’t been brought up creatively in recent months, his working relationship with AEW President Tony Khan remains positive. Khan addressed Jericho’s status on Busted Open Radio, stating, “I love Chris Jericho. He’s a huge part of AEW. Chris is always a welcome, big part of AEW we’d always want to have here.”
However, interest in Jericho extends beyond AEW. Fightful reported that multiple companies — including WWE — have expressed interest in signing him once his contract ends. A WWE source reportedly told the outlet that Jericho would “almost certainly get offered several million dollars annually” if he chose to return, though AEW could likely match that offer.
Adding to the speculation, Jericho’s recently announced Rock ’n’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise for November 2026 features no AEW talent on its lineup — a first for the event. Instead, the guest list includes names such as Jeff Hardy, Saraya, The Great Muta, Nic Nemeth, Bully Ray, Carlito, Shotzi Blackheart, and Indi Hartwell — all with WWE connections. The absence of AEW stars has fueled talk that Jericho could be a free agent by the time the cruise sets sail.
For now, Jericho’s future remains uncertain, but his new look and the buzz surrounding his potential WWE homecoming suggest that the “Ayatollah of Rock ’n’ Rolla” might be gearing up for one more high-profile run.
