WWE Hints at Possible Clash of Champions Return

WWE Hints at Possible Clash of Champions Return – WWE may be preparing to revive one of its former premium live event names, as a new trademark filing suggests that Clash of Champions could be making a return. The company officially submitted a new application to the United States Patent and Trademark Office on December 1 for the term “Clash of Champions,” marking the latest indication that WWE is considering bringing the event back into its schedule after several years away.

Clash of Champions originally ran from 2016 through 2020, featuring the concept of every championship being defended on the same night. The final installment took place on September 27, 2020, inside the WWE ThunderDome at the height of the pandemic-era programming. Since then, the name has not appeared on WWE’s calendar, leading many to believe the event had been fully retired.

The newly filed trademark covers a wide range of goods under the “paper goods and printed matter” category. Among the items listed are paper, cardboard, printed materials, photographs, stationery, artists’ materials, teaching supplies, packaging materials, playing cards, printing blocks, and more. While this classification does not directly confirm a premium live event, it strongly signals that WWE is refreshing its legal protections around the name. WWE already owns multiple trademarks for Clash of Champions, further pointing to the possibility that the company is positioning itself to use the branding again.

Although WWE has not publicly announced any plans for its 2026 premium live event lineup, the timing of the filing aligns with internal scheduling decisions that often surface months or even years before official announcements. Fans familiar with WWE’s filing patterns will recognize that reviving or expanding a trademark often precedes the return of a legacy event.

If WWE does move forward with bringing Clash of Champions back, it would mark the first time in more than five years that the event appears on the company’s programming calendar. For now, the filing serves as the clearest indication yet that the concept is once again being considered for future use.
