Ricochet Says WWE Didn’t Push to Keep Him Before AEW Jump – Ricochet parted ways with WWE in June 2024 when his contract expired, closing out a run that saw him hold the Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship during his time with the company. His exit was sealed on the June 10 episode of RAW, when Bron Breakker attacked him and sent him crashing through a car windshield. Not long after, Ricochet made the leap to AEW, officially debuting at All In 2024.
In a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Ricochet reflected on his WWE departure and how he perceived the company’s effort to retain him. According to him, while WWE did make an offer, he never felt like the company truly fought to keep him.
“For me, they didn’t try. They made an offer, we just couldn’t agree, okay, I’m out,” Ricochet admitted. “They didn’t, for me at least, they didn’t really let me know they wanted me to stay. Who knows if that would have changed my mind anyway. This is just my experience. They may feel different. I didn’t feel they really sat me down and were like, ‘We want you to stay.’ Everyone has different experiences. That’s just how I felt.”
Since arriving in AEW, Ricochet has quickly become a regular presence on television and pay-per-view, showcasing his high-flying style on a bigger stage and solidifying himself as a featured performer within the promotion. His move also represents one of the more high-profile WWE-to-AEW shifts in recent years, further fueling the ongoing rivalry between the two wrestling giants.
