Updated Card for WWE SummerSlam 2025 – As noted, several major developments occurred during the July 18 episode of WWE SmackDown, further solidifying the match lineup for the first-ever two-night SummerSlam event, set to take place on August 2–3, 2025, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
First, SmackDown concluded with a chaotic brawl involving Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu, leading to General Manager Adam Pearce making it official: Solo will defend the WWE United States Championship against Fatu in a Steel Cage Match at SummerSlam. The stipulation was put in place after weeks of escalating tension and a brutal closing segment on SmackDown where Fatu and Jimmy Uso attacked The Bloodline’s new faction.
Another explosive development came during a scheduled contract signing between Cody Rhodes and John Cena. Cena initially refused to sign the SummerSlam contract, citing a Netflix filming commitment and emotional exhaustion. However, Rhodes wasn’t having it. After attacking Cena and delivering a top-rope splash with the contract in hand, Cody physically forced Cena to sign the paperwork. With the signature inked under chaotic circumstances, Cody then revealed that their title bout will now be contested under Street Fight rules.
On the women’s side, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships will be on the line. Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez of The Judgment Day will defend their titles against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. The match was set after Flair pinned Rodriguez in singles action on SmackDown, earning herself and Bliss a shot at the gold.
These additions join an already stacked SummerSlam lineup, which now includes multiple title matches and high-profile bouts across both nights.
