Colt Cabana Returns on AEW Collision, Bloodied by Jon Moxley – Colt Cabana made a surprising return to AEW television for the first time since November 2022, only to be viciously attacked and left bloodied by Jon Moxley and the Death Riders during Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision in Chicago.
Cabana, who has been with AEW since 2019, has remained active behind the scenes as a coach, though his in-ring and on-screen presence has been minimal over the past few years. His last televised match came in 2022 when he challenged Chris Jericho for the ROH World Championship—a match he lost after just over nine minutes. Since then, Cabana has continued wrestling in dark matches and on ROH programming, but hadn’t appeared on AEW television until this weekend.
The former Dark Order member returned to AEW programming to join the commentary desk during Collision. However, the homecoming quickly turned violent. Cabana was ambushed by Marina Shafir and dragged to the ring by Moxley and the Death Riders, where they brutally beat him down. Moxley escalated the assault by wrapping a chain around Cabana’s neck and choking him over the top rope—a chilling callback to how “Hangman” Adam Page was brutalized by Moxley at All In: Texas.
Following the attack, AEW released a video showing Cabana backstage being checked on by his former Dark Order allies—John Silver, Alex Reynolds, and Evil Uno. While the group has continued to compete regularly across AEW and Ring of Honor, this violent act may be the catalyst that brings them back into a focused storyline, possibly to seek retribution against the Death Riders.
The segment added to the already growing list of brutal tactics employed by Moxley and his faction, whose dominance has been increasing following Moxley’s role in derailing Swerve Strickland’s AEW World Title run at Dynasty. With AEW heading toward All Out in early September, this renewed aggression toward Cabana—especially in his hometown—could set the stage for a larger conflict involving the Death Riders and the Dark Order.
