Triple H Made the Call on Carlito and R-Truth WWE Departures Amid Financial Cutbacks – The recent departures of Carlito and R-Truth from WWE were reportedly decisions made directly under the leadership of WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque, with financial concerns playing a key role in the process.
Both veteran performers had confirmed on social media that WWE would not be renewing their contracts. Carlito revealed his deal is set to expire in two weeks and joked that the company asked him to repay money for “stealing” from them, while R-Truth also acknowledged his departure, sparking concern and surprise among fans.
Dave Meltzer discussed the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio, explaining that the cuts were budget-related and directly linked to Levesque’s evaluation of the roster.
“They’re numbers. They’re looking at the numbers, and they’re looking at how many do we have to cut, or how much money do we have to cut? And those were the picks. Those were the Levesque picks. And that’s what it is,” Meltzer said.
He continued, noting WWE likely doesn’t see a major loss in parting ways with Carlito, who has had limited involvement in major storylines. R-Truth, on the other hand, was acknowledged for his value in comedy and entertainment. “I don’t think they lose anything by losing Carlito. R-Truth is really funny,” Meltzer added.
Carlito, who returned to WWE in October 2023 as part of the LWO, had been appearing regularly on RAW with The Judgment Day in recent months. His most recent notable activity included capturing the WWC Puerto Rican Championship on Saturday.
R-Truth, a long-tenured WWE favorite, has been widely recognized for his comedic timing, charisma, and contributions to the 24/7 Championship era. Despite limited in-ring action in recent years due to injury and age, he remained a fan favorite and a reliable television presence.
The decisions highlight WWE’s ongoing efforts to optimize its roster and expenses under Levesque’s creative leadership and the broader management strategy following the Endeavor merger. It remains to be seen if more names will be affected by budget-related departures in the coming weeks.
