TNA Reportedly Interested in Signing R-Truth – R-Truth’s recent release from WWE has reportedly left many within the company disappointed, with the decision said to be financially motivated. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE felt that R-Truth’s contract value no longer aligned with his current on-screen usage.
The veteran had just wrapped up a brief storyline with John Cena that culminated in a high-profile match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, making the timing of his departure surprising to some.
Meltzer noted that the backstage reaction was one of frustration due to R-Truth’s strong rapport with the locker room. “There were a lot of wrestlers who were very unhappy because he was so popular with the talent,” Meltzer wrote.
Fan sentiment was also evident during this week’s episode of RAW, where there were chants not only for R-Truth but also for Carlito, who was let go at the same time. The company reportedly took steps to handle the matter discreetly. Talent was told not to wear R-Truth shirts on television, though Rhea Ripley was said to have worn one backstage before removing it prior to going on camera.
As for his future, there is already interest from other promotions. Meltzer reported that TNA is eager to bring him in, writing, “Those in TNA have already said that they want to make him an offer, and for that company, he’ll come in fairly hot.”
R-Truth, whose charisma and comedic timing have long made him a fan favorite, appears poised to land on his feet should he choose to return to the ring elsewhere.
