WWE Reportedly Signs Hijo del Vikingo, Alberto El Patron, and More Top AAA Stars – As WWE finalizes its acquisition of AAA, several of the Mexican promotion’s top stars have officially signed with the company, signaling a major expansion into the Latin American wrestling market.
In a significant development tied to WWE’s pending acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, the company has begun integrating some of AAA’s most recognizable talents. As reported by Super Luchas Editor-in-Chief Ernesto Ocamo, WWE has officially signed several top AAA stars as it prepares to finalize the high-profile deal later in 2025.
Among the names now under WWE contract are:
- Alberto El Patron (formerly Alberto Del Rio in WWE)
- Hijo de Dr. Wagner
- Hijo del Vikingo (current AAA Mega Champion)
- La Parka
- La Hiedra
- Lady Flammer
- Lady Maravilla
- Niño Hamburguesa
Of the group, Alberto El Patron is the only talent with prior WWE main roster experience. Known to WWE fans as Alberto Del Rio, he is a four-time WWE World Champion who held multiple titles during his run from 2010 to 2016. His return to the WWE umbrella comes as a surprise, given his history of controversies and legal issues over the past several years. While El Patron is currently expected to continue performing for AAA, it remains uncertain whether he will be featured on WWE’s main programming.
The signing of Hijo del Vikingo, one of the most electrifying luchadores in the world today, is seen as a major coup. Vikingo has built an international reputation through acclaimed matches in AAA, AEW, and ROH, and his addition to WWE’s talent pool may signal a growing commitment to presenting high-octane lucha libre action.
The inclusion of women’s stars like Lady Flammer, La Hiedra, and Lady Maravilla further reinforces WWE’s interest in bolstering its women’s divisions with diverse international talent. Meanwhile, veterans such as La Parka and rising stars like Niño Hamburguesa round out a group that represents both legacy and modern appeal in lucha libre.
With the acquisition expected to close later this year, more cross-promotional activity is likely to emerge. WWE’s broader strategy appears aimed at tapping into AAA’s deep-rooted fanbase in Mexico and Latin America, while expanding the company’s global reach and multicultural representation on its programming.
