Josh Alexander Says TNA Never Made an Offer to Stay

Josh Alexander Says TNA Never Made an Offer to Stay – Josh Alexander has opened up about the circumstances behind his departure from TNA Wrestling and subsequent signing with AEW, revealing that TNA never actually made an effort to retain him.

Alexander officially became a free agent in February when his TNA contract expired. While TNA had picked up his option year for 2024, the former two-time TNA World Champion said the promotion never followed through with a new deal, despite his interest in staying.

In an interview with The Wrestling Classic on Casual Conversations, Alexander explained:

“I had the meeting with TNA the year before, and they picked up my option. They were like, ‘We really want to keep you.’ ‘Okay, guys. I would be doing myself and my family a disservice by not seeing what else is out there from a financial and opportunity perspective. You guys come to the table with an offer. I love this place. I love the locker room.’ Part of me was like, ‘I don’t want to leave, but it doesn’t make sense to stay if it’s not in the same ballpark.’ They never made me an offer, ever.”

He added that despite repeated conversations, no formal proposal was presented:

“They took that and were like, ‘Oh, he’s leaving. Okay,’ even though he had conversations several times, ‘Just make me an offer, guys.’ They never did. Obviously, I went and talked with two other companies and I had to make my decision there. I chose AEW. It was the right fit for me and my family. Very happy to be there.”

Alexander officially debuted in AEW as the wild card entrant in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament at AEW Dynamite: Spring BreakThru. Though he lost to Hangman Page in his first match, Alexander quickly aligned himself with the Don Callis Family and has since been a consistent presence on AEW television.

His signing adds depth to AEW’s roster, especially with his reputation for in-ring excellence and long championship reigns in TNA. Alexander’s AEW run appears to be gaining momentum, and his comments shed light on what could be viewed as a missed opportunity for TNA.
