AEW Collision Moved to Thursday May 9 Due to NHL Playoffs – The May 9 episode of AEW Collision will air on TBS this Thursday instead of its regular Saturday night slot on TNT, continuing a string of recent timeslot adjustments.
The broadcast schedule for AEW Collision continues to shift, with the latest change seeing the program move to Thursday, May 9, airing on TBS instead of its usual Saturday timeslot on TNT. The announcement was made during the May 3 episode of Collision.
The change is due to NHL playoff coverage occupying TNT’s primetime slot this coming Saturday. AEW has experienced several schedule disruptions in recent weeks. The May 3 episode also aired on TBS instead of TNT, while the previous week’s show was delayed by 30 minutes due to NBA playoff coverage.
This isn’t the first time Collision has been moved to Thursday. During WrestleMania 41 week, the show was also shifted to avoid direct competition with WWE’s largest annual event. That move marked the beginning of a series of adjustments that have affected the program’s consistency in recent months.
Looking ahead, AEW has additional programming shifts planned for June. Two special episodes featuring back-to-back blocks of AEW Dynamite and Collision are scheduled. The first is Fyter Fest on June 4, followed by Summer Blockbuster the next week. These four-hour events are expected to bring major matchups and storyline progression.
The May 3 episode of Collision ended with FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) defeating Paragon (Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly) in a two-out-of-three falls match. After the victory, former TNT Champion Daniel Garcia appeared and confronted FTR, seeking revenge for their attack the previous week. Garcia challenged the duo to a match for next week’s episode, though it remains unclear whether it will be a singles or tag team contest.
AEW has not yet confirmed the full card for the rescheduled May 9 episode, but with tensions escalating, the confrontation involving Garcia and FTR is expected to be a focal point.
