TNA to Introduces International Championship, Announces Tournament and Retires Digital Media Title

TNA to Introduces International Championship, Announces Tournament and Retires Digital Media Title – A major announcement was made on the latest episode of TNA iMPACT! on April 3, as Director of Authority Santino Marella revealed that a brand-new title is coming to the promotion. The TNA International Championship will debut at the upcoming TNA Unbreakable pay-per-view, with a tournament scheduled to crown the inaugural champion.

The newly announced title is set to represent TNA’s growing international presence, and the company plans to kick off the championship tournament immediately. Marella confirmed that every match in the tournament will be a Three-Way Match, offering fast-paced, high-stakes action leading up to the crowning of the first champion.

Tournament Lineup

Initially, the tournament featured the following three matches:

  • Ace Austin vs. Steve Maclin vs. Eddie Edwards
  • JDC vs. Sami Callihan vs. Eric Young
  • Mance Warner vs. AJ Francis vs. Zachary Wentz

However, in a last-minute change announced during the broadcast, Zachary Wentz and Sami Callihan switched places in the bracket. The revised lineup is now:

  • Ace Austin vs. Steve Maclin vs. Eddie Edwards
  • JDC vs. Zachary Wentz vs. Eric Young
  • Mance Warner vs. AJ Francis vs. Sami Callihan

No date was given for when the finals will take place, but it’s expected the culmination of the tournament will happen at TNA Unbreakable.

Digital Media Title Retired

In addition to the tournament news, Santino Marella also addressed the status of the TNA Digital Media Championship. He officially stripped Steph De Lander of the title and confirmed that the championship has been retired. The title was originally introduced in 2021 and had seen several unique defenses across social media and traditional programming before being quietly phased out.

This move signals a shift in direction for TNA, as the promotion appears to be streamlining its championship landscape while introducing a new title to engage its increasingly global fanbase.
