Original Plans for Chelsea Green’s US Title Win – In a candid interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Chelsea Green opened up about a pivotal moment in her WWE career that didn’t go as originally planned. Green disclosed that she was originally scheduled to win the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Championship at the Survivor Series 2023 pay-per-view, which took place in her home country of Canada on the West Coast.
“I was supposed to win it at Survivor Series, in not only Canada but on the West Coast,” Green revealed.
The moment was shaping up to be a major milestone in her career — and one she was eager to share with the people closest to her. Green noted that she had purchased dozens of tickets for friends and family to attend the event, anticipating what she thought would be a career-defining night.
“Do you know how many tickets I bought for that show? Oh, well, that’s a whole other conversation. But keep in mind when I say bought, I had like 30 friends and family there. I had every bridesmaid and I had like 12 bridesmaids. I had every bridesmaid there, all of their partners. I had their babies there. I had all of my family, my mom’s friends, everyone was there.”
Despite the emotional build-up, Green said the decision to change course was made fairly late in the process.
“I don’t know when the plans changed, but when I found out it was probably a week before,” she shared.
Instead of Green capturing the gold, the match at Survivor Series saw Tiffany Stratton defeat Shotzi in a singles match to become the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion. Green would go on to win the title later, but her story highlights the unpredictable and often last-minute nature of WWE’s creative decisions.
