Lex Luger Explains WrestleMania 41 Absence – WWE Hall of Famer Lex Luger was noticeably absent from Saturday’s WrestleMania 41 festivities at Allegiant Stadium, despite being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025 just one night earlier.
During an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show, Luger addressed his absence and clarified the situation, which sparked widespread fan speculation online. According to Luger, the aftermath of the Hall of Fame ceremony left him physically drained, making it impossible for him to appear the next day.
“It’s wild how that stuff catches fire. With all that happened, the next day on Saturday, I could hardly get out of bed,” Luger explained. “I called the guys and they were cool about it. They said, ‘Look, we’d love to have you down there. Let’s see how you feel later in the day,’ but it was obvious by later in the afternoon that I wasn’t going to be able to get out there.”
Luger, who has dealt with serious health challenges in recent years, was inducted by longtime friend and fellow wrestling legend Diamond Dallas Page. DDP also commented on Luger’s absence, noting that the late night on Friday combined with the time zone change from the East Coast contributed to the difficulty.
“Lex would have been there if he could,” said Page. “But Friday was a late night and we’re used to being on the East Coast.”
Despite his absence on Saturday, Luger’s induction on Friday night was met with respect and appreciation from fans and peers alike. The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion and one-time WWF star was celebrated for his impact during the late ’80s and ’90s, including his role as “The Total Package” and his patriotic run during WWE’s New Generation Era.
His absence from the stadium on Saturday sparked various rumors on social media, but Luger’s explanation puts to rest any speculation about drama or disagreement with WWE. His focus, instead, remains on his health and gratitude for being recognized for his contributions to the wrestling industry.
Luger’s induction into the Hall of Fame is a long-awaited moment for fans who have followed his journey both in and out of the ring. Though he couldn’t take part in WrestleMania night’s celebration, his words and Friday’s ceremony served as a meaningful recognition of his legacy.
