Jey Uso Wants to Open WrestleMania 41 – Jey Uso is set to face GUNTHER for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41, but he won’t be closing the show.
The honor of main-eventing night one of WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas will go to the highly anticipated triple threat match featuring Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins. With the main event slot out of reach, Uso is shifting his focus to making a different kind of statement—by setting the tone for the entire weekend.
Speaking in a new episode of WWE’s Road to WrestleMania vlog series, Uso revealed that his goal now is to open the show on Saturday night.
“Saturday is my day. I’m on the first night, so I really hope – I’m being detailed here – but I really hope I’m on first. Obviously, I wanted to main event. We know that’s not going to happen, which is okay with me. I feel like if you’re on a WrestleMania card, period, that’s something big, man. It took me almost 10 years to even get on the main card. So I’m humble with this, but I just want to go first, night one, if I can, to at least set the tone for sure.”
Uso’s match against GUNTHER is one of the most talked-about bouts heading into the event, with both Superstars looking to make a statement. GUNTHER enters the match following a historic reign as Intercontinental Champion, now chasing a world title on the grandest stage. Uso, on the other hand, is riding the momentum of his breakout singles run and aims to capture his first singles championship in WWE.
While opening a WrestleMania may not carry the prestige of headlining, it often delivers some of the most memorable performances of the night. For Jey Uso, it represents both a symbolic and strategic opportunity to start WrestleMania 41 with impact.
