GUNTHER Taking Time Off – On Friday, WWE RAW General Manager Adam Pearce officially announced disciplinary action against GUNTHER following his violent outburst on this week’s episode of RAW. Pearce confirmed that GUNTHER has been fined an undisclosed amount and suspended indefinitely from WWE programming.
The decision stems from an incident on RAW where the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion attacked commentator Michael Cole and choked out Pat McAfee. GUNTHER’s actions came just 48 hours after his devastating loss to Jey Uso at WrestleMania 41, where he ended his more than eight-month reign as champion. During RAW, Cole openly mentioned GUNTHER’s submission loss, which triggered the assault. Cole later approached Pearce with concerns about the safety of the commentary team, prompting swift action from WWE management.
Adding to the situation, it has been reported that GUNTHER actually requested time off following WrestleMania. The storyline suspension was used as a way to explain his absence from television while he takes his requested break. There is currently no official word on when GUNTHER will return to WWE programming.
Meanwhile, Cole and McAfee are expected to resume their regular commentary duties on the next episode of RAW. Joe Tessitore stepped in to fill McAfee’s spot for the remainder of the show this past Monday after the attack.
