Cody Rhodes Tells John Cena He's Overrated and Still Can't Wrestle

Cody Rhodes Tells John Cena He’s Overrated and Still Can’t Wrestle – In the final segment of the April 18 episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes and John Cena faced off just days before their highly anticipated showdown at WrestleMania 41. What began as a war of words ended with Rhodes standing tall after delivering a Cross Rhodes to Cena in the middle of the ring.

Before Rhodes could speak, John Cena interrupted and took over the moment. He announced that Sunday would be his final WrestleMania and that he has nothing left to lose. In a blunt and bitter tone, Cena claimed that wrestling retirements are a joke because most wrestlers end up coming back. He said he doesn’t need the fans anymore because he has love and joy in his life.

Cena reflected on his conversation with Rhodes at WrestleMania XL, saying that every day as champion gets harder, and by Sunday, the weight of that title will be too much for Rhodes to bear. He questioned Rhodes’ priorities and said his need for fan approval would ultimately cost him the match.

“When you turned down The Rock, I knew I could beat you,” Cena claimed. He accused Rhodes of being tough but also scared and insecure. “On Sunday, you don’t need the tattoo or the suit—because I will make you somebody.”

As Rhodes tried to respond, the crowd turned on him. Cena mocked him for their support, saying, “This is who you fight for?” Rhodes fired back, accusing Cena of being overrated and washed up, even taking a shot at his appearance by comparing him to Sting at Starrcade 1997. “It’s 2025 and you still can’t wrestle,” Rhodes declared.

Cena snapped, calling the crowd “idiots” before sucker-punching Rhodes and attempting the Attitude Adjustment. Rhodes reversed it into the Cross Rhodes, leaving Cena laid out just two days before their WrestleMania clash.

With momentum now on his side, Rhodes closed out the show in dominant fashion, giving fans one final preview of what could come at WrestleMania 41.
