Chris Jericho vs. Bandido Now Official, New Owen Hart Tournament Match Announced for AEW Dynasty – We noted earlier today that Chris Jericho’s Mask vs. Title challenge against Bandido for AEW Dynasty was still uncertain, as Tony Khan had yet to confirm the match. However, just a few hours later, Khan made it official, announcing that Bandido has accepted the challenge.
Jericho originally issued the challenge on the March 26 episode of AEW Dynamite, but the match was not finalized until Thursday night. The two previously faced off on the February 22 episode of AEW Collision, where Jericho successfully defended the ROH World Championship against Bandido.
Their feud escalated at AEW Revolution when Jericho attacked Bandido’s family, including Gravity, and stole his mask. Now, Bandido is set to put his own mask on the line in this high-stakes contest at AEW Dynasty.
Tony Khan confirmed the match on social media, writing: “Bandido has accepted the challenge, and he will risk his mask vs. the title of his vicious rival, the ROH World Champion Chris Jericho, at AEW Dynasty on PPV THIS SUNDAY!”
Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Matches Set for AEW Dynasty
In addition to the Mask vs. Title match, Khan also announced another Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament match for AEW Dynasty. Mark Briscoe will face Kyle Fletcher in a first-round matchup. Briscoe currently leads their rivalry with a 2-1 record.
Khan wrote: “In the Owen Hart Foundation Quarterfinal, Kyle Fletcher will fight vs. Mark Briscoe, who holds the 2-1 advantage over The Protostar in their rivalry!”
Another Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament match already confirmed for AEW Dynasty will see Will Ospreay take on Kevin Knight. With these matchups, the tournament is set to kick off with exciting first-round action at the pay-per-view on April 6.
