Booker T: WWE Shouldn’t Add Matches to the Hall of Fame – Booker T has shared his thoughts on WWE’s newly announced “Immortal Moments” initiative, and while he appreciates celebrating legendary matches, he isn’t on board with how WWE plans to honor them.
During a recent episode of his Hall of Fame podcast, the two-time WWE Hall of Famer discussed the news that WWE will begin inducting iconic matches into the Hall of Fame under the “Immortal Moments” banner. The first inductee is the legendary WrestleMania 13 clash between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Bret “The Hitman” Hart—a bout widely regarded as one of the greatest matches in WWE history.
Booker T made it clear he supports honoring these matches but believes awarding a Hall of Fame ring to them crosses the line.
“That really is not a Hall of Fame,” Booker T said. “That’s a match. You shouldn’t get a ring for that. It’s a match—you get a plaque or something. You don’t get a ring for it. Let’s get real. You get a plaque.”
While he questioned the idea of awarding rings, Booker did express enthusiasm about the potential presentation of these moments on the Hall of Fame stage.
“If they do make it happen, both of those guys on stage together, actually reliving a couple minutes of that match. They ain’t gotta go in depth or anything like that too much, but just to have those guys on the stage for that moment, I think yeah.”
Booker concluded by emphasizing the lasting impact of these matches, but reiterated they should be honored differently than full Hall of Fame careers.
“Those are moments that you capture and they live forever, those moments like that. So yeah, to see those two guys on stage one more time reliving that? Heck yeah, I can see that most definitely.”
The “Immortal Moments” concept has sparked a mixed reaction among fans and personalities alike, as WWE continues to expand the scope of its Hall of Fame recognitions.
