WWE ID Championship Tournament to Begin During WrestleMania 41 Week – WWE is set to kick off its first-ever WWE ID Championship tournaments, with the opening rounds scheduled for next month. The tournament will launch at independent wrestling events during WrestleMania 41 week, further expanding WWE’s ID program.
Originally introduced in October, the WWE ID program is a partnership between WWE and various independent wrestling promotions and training schools. The initiative provides participating talent with financial backing and access to WWE’s training resources while allowing them to continue competing on the independent circuit.
The first matches of the tournament will take place at GCW’s event on Wednesday, April 16, at The Collective, hosted at The Palms in Las Vegas. Additional first-round matches are scheduled for FSW’s show on Friday, April 18, at the FSW Arena. The tournament winners will go on to defend the WWE ID Championships at independent shows, bringing WWE’s influence to a broader wrestling audience.
As part of the tournament, WWE has confirmed the following talent will compete at both GCW and FSW events:
- Sean Legacy
- Zayda Steel
- Ice Williams
- Jackson Drake
- Swipe Right (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes)
- Zara Zakher
- Cappuccino Jones
This initiative highlights WWE’s evolving relationship with independent wrestling, offering unsigned talent new opportunities while allowing them to remain active in the independent scene.
