Swerve Strickland Suffers Injury at AEW Revolution – Swerve Strickland may have walked out of AEW Revolution 2025 with a statement victory and a guaranteed AEW World Championship opportunity, but it didn’t come without a price.
Strickland defeated Ricochet in a high-stakes bout to earn a future title shot. However, he wasn’t done making an impact for the night. Following Jon Moxley’s successful title defense, Strickland blindsided the champion with a Swerve Stomp, making it clear that he was coming for the AEW World Championship.
During the AEW Revolution post-show media scrum, Strickland revealed that he suffered a ruptured eardrum during the event. He noted that he could only hear from his right ear and asked reporters to speak up. While the injury is notable, it doesn’t appear to be a major setback, as Strickland remains focused on reclaiming the AEW World Championship.
Strickland made history as AEW’s first African-American World Champion when he defeated Samoa Joe at AEW Dynasty 2024. His reign was cut short at AEW All In when Bryan Danielson dethroned him. Now, with another title shot on the horizon, Strickland is determined to become a two-time champion.
As of now, AEW has not announced when Strickland will challenge for the championship, but with his momentum and his attack on Moxley at the end of the show, the match seems inevitable.
