Kevin Owens Praises Triple H’s Creative Approach, Calls Out Past WWE Mindset – Kevin Owens has never been shy about expressing his views, and after more than a decade with WWE, he’s seen the company evolve through various leadership changes. In a recent interview, Owens reflected on how WWE’s creative direction has shifted under Triple H compared to the previous regime led by Vince McMahon.
Speaking to Adrian Hernandez of Unlikely, Owens discussed the noticeable change in how WWE now respects the intelligence of its fanbase, particularly when it comes to continuity in storytelling.
“It’s definitely been a shift in mindset from people at the top,” Owens explained. “Our fans are smart and watch our product and pay attention and remember things, and can remember things a lot better than other people that were in charge before thought they would because I guess they didn’t remember half the stuff we did. The fans do because the fans care and pay attention to what we do.”
Owens revealed that he often argued with WWE’s former decision-makers about continuity and how fans would react to stories being dropped or ignored.
“I had arguments with the people in charge before. ‘No, this happened three weeks ago, they’re going to remember.’ They said, ‘No, they won’t.’ ‘Yes, they will. You’re insulting their intelligence by pretending they won’t.’”
The former Universal Champion credited Triple H for taking a different approach since assuming creative control.
“Obviously, Triple H does not think like that. He knows fans remember and he applies it and uses it. It makes the product way better, in my opinion,” Owens added.
Owens also reflected on his own experience as a fan growing up, pointing out that fans have always been aware of details others overlooked.
“When I was a kid watching, when I was 12, 13, 14, even though I was just a kid, I watched it and remembered everything. When The Sultan showed up, I knew it was [Rikishi]. Why is he The Sultan? Our fans are smart. It’s great to see the product leaning into that now.”
Owens continues to be a key figure in WWE, and his comments further highlight the positive changes fans and talent alike have recognized under Triple H’s creative leadership.
