WWE Women’s Division Frustrations Over Booking Persist

WWE Women’s Division Frustrations Over Booking Persist

WWE Women’s Division Frustrations Over Booking Persist – While WWE has seen significant improvements under its new creative direction, frustrations reportedly remain within the women’s division regarding its booking.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful addressed the situation while responding to a question on The Hump. He noted that this is not a new issue, as similar concerns existed under Vince McMahon’s leadership. However, he emphasized that the current frustration does not compare to the extreme discontent seen during the 2022 Royal Rumble, which was widely criticized for its handling of the women’s roster.

Sapp shared an example of a WWE talent reaching out to him directly, asking whether they were internally listed as a heel or babyface, highlighting the lack of clarity in the division’s creative direction. He also mentioned that some proposed WrestleMania storylines were rejected, particularly token tag matches that some talents felt did not elevate the division.

Despite these frustrations, WWE continues to expand its women’s division by introducing more titles and increasing overall representation. Sapp pointed out that women’s segments have drawn stable viewership, proving that the division is not treated as a sideshow but as an integral part of the product. However, many performers still feel sidelined.

One specific case he referenced was Natalya, who re-signed with WWE under the expectation of having creative plans. Despite that, she has not been regularly featured on RAW, SmackDown, or NXT.

The situation underscores the ongoing challenge of balancing a deep women’s roster with meaningful storylines, something WWE will need to address as it builds toward WrestleMania 41.
