WWE Making Plans for Rey Fenix Despite AEW Contract Status – WWE is reportedly preparing for the arrival of an AEW star still under contract, but it appears that the wait may continue for some time.
Rey Fenix has expressed his desire to leave AEW, but the company has extended his contract due to injury-related absences. Previously, Sean Ross Sapp reported that Fenix was considered part of AEW’s February talent releases, though he ultimately was not included.
The added time to his deal is believed to be close to a year. Once that period expires, Fenix is expected to reunite with his brother, Penta El Zero M, as the Lucha Bros in WWE.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has already started making plans for Fenix’s eventual arrival. Dave Meltzer wrote, “They are making plans for Rey Fenix, although there has been no confirmation Fenix has been released from his AEW contract.”
For now, Fenix remains under AEW’s contractual obligations, meaning his WWE debut will have to wait until his deal officially expires. However, with WWE reportedly making preparations, his transition to the company appears to be a matter of time rather than speculation.
