WWE Changes SmackDown Lineup for The Rock’s Appearance – WWE has made notable changes to tonight’s SmackDown at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA, following the announcement that The Rock will be appearing on the show. His presence has reportedly led to adjustments in the originally scheduled matches.
Before The Rock’s involvement was confirmed, WWE had advertised Drew McIntyre vs. Jimmy Uso and a WWE Tag Team Championship match featuring DIY (Tommaso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) defending against Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson). Additionally, the company had scheduled a six-man tag team match with Cody Rhodes, Damian Priest, and Braun Strowman taking on Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga.
However, WrestleVotes reported that The Rock’s appearance has prompted significant changes to the lineup. The planned match between Naomi and Liv Morgan, as well as the six-man tag team bout, have been removed from the card. While WWE has yet to confirm these adjustments, The Rock’s presence is expected to take up a considerable portion of the show’s runtime.
According to previous reports, The Rock is set to make a major announcement regarding WrestleMania 42 during SmackDown. WWE reportedly plans to hold next year’s event at the Superdome in New Orleans, marking the second time the venue will host WrestleMania.
With The Rock’s involvement reshaping the night’s plans, fans can anticipate a show centered around his presence and the potential impact of his announcement.
Here is the current advertised card:
- Naomi vs. Liv Morgan
- Tama Tonga, Solo Sikoa & Jacob Fatu vs. Braun Strowman, Damian Priest, Cody Rhodes
- Drew McIntyre vs. Jimmy Uso
- WWE Tag Team Championships: DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) (c) vs. Pretty Deadly (Elton Prince & Kit Wilson)
- The Rock to appear
