The Undertaker on Young Wrestlers’ Biggest Mistake: “Don’t Act Like a Wrestler, Be One” – The Undertaker has been making media appearances to promote WWE LFG, a new series that premiered on A&E earlier this Sunday. During an interview with Collider, the WWE Hall of Famer shared his thoughts on what he believes is the biggest mistake young wrestlers make early in their careers.
According to The Undertaker, many newcomers to the business try too hard to “act” like wrestlers instead of truly being in the moment. He pointed out that a number of today’s prospects come from different athletic backgrounds and may not have been lifelong wrestling fans. As a result, they tend to imitate what they see on TV rather than developing an authentic in-ring presence.
“They try to emulate what they’re seeing, and it comes off disingenuous to the fans and to people who really know the business. It looks staged,” he explained. Instead of merely copying moves or mannerisms, The Undertaker believes young wrestlers need to tap into something real within themselves to create a compelling persona. He emphasized that the key is to connect with the audience emotionally, rather than just performing for the sake of it.
The Deadman also linked this trend to video games, noting that many young wrestlers grew up playing them and focus too much on executing “cool moves” rather than understanding traditional wrestling psychology. He stressed that storytelling and crowd engagement should take precedence over flashy sequences.
