The Street Profits Return, Help DIY to Retain at WWE Royal Rumble – DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) successfully defended their WWE Tag Team Championship at the 2025 Royal Rumble, overcoming the challenge of the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) in a thrilling two-out-of-three falls match. The bout marked the Motor City Machine Guns’ premium live event debut in WWE, and they delivered a standout performance.
Ciampa secured the first fall for DIY by making a blind tag before drilling Shelley with a running knee for the pin. Sabin turned the tide in the second fall, launching a dive onto both Gargano and Ciampa at ringside. He then planted Gargano with a tornado DDT before the Machine Guns connected with Skull and Bones to even the score.
The final fall saw chaos unfold, as Gargano accidentally struck Ciampa, allowing Shelley and Sabin to take control with a sequence of double-team offense. However, just as the Motor City Machine Guns seemed poised to capture the gold, The Street Profits made a shocking return. Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins attacked the challengers, creating an opening for DIY to capitalize. Gargano and Ciampa seized the moment, hitting Shelley with Meet in the Middle to retain their titles.
After the match, The Street Profits continued their assault, turning their attention to DIY and laying them out before raising the WWE Tag Team Championships. Their return was unexpected, as they had been sidelined since December due to injuries reported by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Their last match before the hiatus took place on the December 27 episode of SmackDown, where they defeated Los Garza (Angel & Berto), followed by a live event match the next night.
With The Street Profits making a bold statement, the WWE Tag Team Championship picture just became even more unpredictable.
