The New Day Explain Their Attack on Rey Mysterio – Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods addressed the WWE Universe on the February 17 episode of RAW, making it clear they had no regrets about attacking Rey Mysterio. Instead, they believe they did him a favor.
Last week, The New Day viciously assaulted Mysterio after he previously kicked them out of the locker room. On RAW, they explained their actions. Kingston stated that he has been with WWE longer than Mysterio and has held more championships. He took a shot at the Hall of Famer, pointing out that he never left WWE, unlike Mysterio. In Kingston’s view, that alone should make him a locker room leader instead.
Rather than apologizing, The New Day insisted they showed restraint. Kingston claimed they could have hurt Mysterio even worse, but they chose to show him mercy. Woods then added another jab, saying that fans should be grateful they didn’t put Mysterio down like Old Yeller. He sarcastically said they gave Mysterio the gift of time off, allowing him to spend more days with his wife.
The LWO had heard enough. Dragon Lee, Cruz Del Toro, and Joaquin Wilde interrupted, making it clear they weren’t going to let Mysterio’s attack go unanswered. They charged the ring, forcing The New Day to flee after a brief scuffle.
