Josh Mathews is no longer with TNA Wrestling, as confirmed by Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp in a report released today. While no additional details surrounding his departure were disclosed, the news marks the end of Mathews’ long-standing involvement with the company. We will provide further updates should more information become available.
Mathews initially joined TNA in 2014 as the lead play-by-play commentator, succeeding Mike Tenay. His experience in WWE as a color commentator and lead announcer was seen as an asset to TNA, and he quickly became a key voice on the broadcast team.
Over the years, Mathews’ role evolved within the company. In more recent times, he shifted away from commentary and took on a behind-the-scenes position. As senior producer and senior director of digital media, he was heavily involved in TNA’s production side of operations.
Although Mathews has not yet commented on his departure, his time with the promotion was marked by significant contributions both in front of and behind the camera.
