JBL Reacts to The Rock’s Segment with Cody Rhodes – The Rock made a powerful statement on WWE SmackDown, calling Cody Rhodes to the ring and making it clear that he wanted to elevate him to Undisputed WWE Champion—while also seeking a piece of his soul. The segment ended with The Rock giving Rhodes until Elimination Chamber on March 1st to respond.
Following SmackDown, The Rock addressed the media during a press conference, acknowledging that the storyline doesn’t necessarily have to conclude with a match. His comments fueled further speculation about how this feud will unfold leading into WrestleMania 41.
On the “Something to Wrestle” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer JBL shared his thoughts on the segment, admitting that it felt unusual but seemed to be intentional.
“I did. I thought it was strange, and I thought it was probably supposed to be strange. Sometimes, you do stuff that you don’t have a finish to. That’s why you call it episodic television, and I thought that’s what that was. I have no idea what ‘I’m gonna take your soul’ [meant]. I don’t think anybody else does. I thought it was incredibly well done. It looked uncomfortable, and I think that’s how it was supposed to look. I thought it was incredibly well done.”
He went on to emphasize the impact of having The Rock back in WWE, noting that while fans often criticize returning legends, there is no denying the magnitude of The Rock’s presence.
“You got the biggest movie star in the last 20 years coming back to WWE. There’s no downside to this. A lot of people have always gotten mad about guys coming back, mad about the Warrior coming back, about Sid coming back, about Hogan coming back, about The Rock coming back. Look, if you’re big enough, you don’t need ‘em. But there ain’t nobody bigger than that man, and so it’s always great to have someone like that come back because it really does help the show.”
With The Rock now fully involved in WWE’s top storyline, all eyes are on Cody Rhodes’ response at Elimination Chamber.
