According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, sources within AEW, people close to Alexander, and those in the industry believe that he is heading to AEW, if he hasn’t signed already. WWE had shown interest in him last year, but it appears that AEW was the frontrunner. Before entering free agency, PWInsider reported that Alexander was represented by Barry Bloom, a well-known agent who also represents major wrestling figures like Kenny Omega and Jim Ross.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio provided insight into Alexander’s decision-making process. He stated that Alexander had already made up his mind on his next move, basing his decision primarily on financial security for his family. Meltzer emphasized that Alexander went with the highest bidder, prioritizing long-term stability. While many expect AEW to be the destination, Meltzer could not confirm it outright.
Meltzer also noted that Alexander, now in his late 30s, had different considerations compared to a younger wrestler with fewer obligations. His choice wasn’t necessarily about which company was a better fit for his in-ring style but rather about providing the best future for his family. Both AEW and WWE had interest in signing him, but AEW is believed to have made the stronger financial offer.
