Following the Royal Rumble, Cena addressed both the fans and WWE’s locker room during the post-show, making it clear that he intends to enter and win the Elimination Chamber. His goal is to earn a title shot at WrestleMania 41, where he could finally surpass Ric Flair’s long-standing record of 16 world title reigns.
While the official WrestleMania card is still taking shape, speculation is growing that Jey Uso will challenge World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER for his first singles world title match on the grand stage. That would leave Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes without a confirmed challenger, making Cena a prime candidate to step into that role if he wins the Chamber match.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has been planning a Cena vs. Rhodes main event since at least October or November. The story would revolve around Cena’s quest for title number 17, adding significant stakes to the matchup.
So far, CM Punk is the only confirmed participant in the Elimination Chamber match. Meanwhile, Rey Mysterio and Logan Paul are set to face off in a qualifying match on Monday’s RAW as the field begins to take shape.
