The Acclaimed Implode at AEW Collision: Maximum Carnage – The Acclaimed officially disbanded following an emotional confrontation between Anthony Bowens and Max Caster during AEW Collision: Maximum Carnage. After months of mounting tension and inconsistent results in late 2024, the team reached its breaking point. The fracture deepened when Caster, now referring to himself as “The Best Wrestler Alive,” accepted MVP’s business card, hinting at a potential alliance with the Hurt Syndicate.
The confrontation began with Bowens calling out Caster for losing sight of their brotherhood, accusing him of prioritizing personal glory over their partnership. Caster doubled down on his claim of being the best wrestler alive, dismissing Bowens’ concerns. Bowens, visibly emotional, fired back, reminding Caster that he had always been proud to represent AEW and calling himself wrestling’s “five-tool player.” He offered to prove his worth in the ring if Caster needed a reminder.
Billy Gunn, their mentor and the third member of The Acclaimed, attempted to mediate. He implored the duo to remember the success they shared as AEW World Trios Champions and AEW Tag Team Champions. Caster, however, turned his frustrations on Gunn, accusing him of using The Acclaimed for his own gain. He mocked Gunn’s past failures in tag team partnerships, even bringing up his estrangement from his sons, The Gunn Club.
The scene boiled over when Caster forced Bowens to choose sides. Bowens made his decision clear, flipping off his former partner and joining Gunn in a final “scissor” celebration as Caster walked away.
This bitter breakup marks the end of a beloved AEW faction, setting the stage for Caster’s singles ambitions and Bowens’ future alongside Gunn.
