Sheamus Discusses WWE Future, New Five-Year Deal – Sheamus recently appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where he shared his thoughts on his WWE future and aspirations within the company. A 15-year WWE veteran, Sheamus has captured numerous championships throughout his career. However, one title has eluded him — the Intercontinental Championship, currently held by Bron Breakker.
When asked about how much longer he sees himself competing, Sheamus revealed that he recently signed a new contract, extending his WWE journey. His focus remains on enjoying the ride until he is no longer physically able to continue.
“Not really,” Sheamus responded when asked if he thinks about the end of his career. “I just signed a new five-year deal. My wife reminds me all the time — [I’ll be] 52. Listen, I’ll go until the wheels fall off. I could do it until physically I can’t anymore. I love what I do. There’s plenty of time to sit back, read a book, and watch TV later.”
Sheamus also reflected on his gratitude for continuing his career after a serious neck injury, noting that he would have been at peace if his condition had forced him to retire. However, he empathized with wrestlers who retired too early, sensing the regret some feel when they step away before their time.
“I’ve talked to some talent as well. You meet them all at Mania and everything when they come in, especially the Hall of Fame, but also everybody gets invited to Mania. You can tell a lot of the talents who just retired too early. If I had to hang up my boots when that stuff happened with my neck [injury], I’d be at peace with it, right? Because you know there’s nothing you could do. But when some talent that retired before their time, you can tell there’s a bit of regret there.”
Despite his longevity and accolades, Sheamus remains driven to finally win the Intercontinental Championship and complete his collection of WWE titles. With a new deal in place, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to achieve his goal.
