Netflix VP Discusses WWE RAW Viewership Strategy – WWE’s partnership with Netflix marks a historic shift as RAW leaves traditional television for a streaming-only format. The move is expected to redefine how the show’s success is measured, and Netflix executives are enthusiastic about its potential.
In an interview with The Athletic, Brandon Reigg, Netflix’s Vice President of Unscripted and Documentary Series, outlined the company’s approach to evaluating RAW’s performance. Reigg explained that WWE’s flagship program will be treated like any other series on the platform, emphasizing cost, viewership, and engagement as key factors.
“At its core, it’s no different to any other entertainment program,” Reigg said. “It’s a case of saying, ‘What does it cost?’ and then, ‘What’s the return of that investment in terms of how many people are watching it and their level of engagement?’ It’s no different to Love Is Blind, Black Doves, or Stranger Things. We look at it through that same lens.”
Drawing a parallel to the success of Drive to Survive, Netflix’s Formula 1 series, Reigg expressed confidence in RAW’s growth potential. “We have a real opportunity here to grow the audience and the awareness of the brand,” he continued. “Netflix has this incredible reach and the trust of its members, who are willing to try things they might not otherwise have sampled. We’ve seen that time and again. We can give RAW a turbo-boost.”
With its unparalleled global subscriber base and innovative content strategies, Netflix’s backing could redefine WWE’s reach and reshape the landscape of professional wrestling on a streaming platform.
