Maryse Talks Prioritizing Family Over WWE Career – Maryse, a former WWE Divas Champion, has taken a step back from the ring in recent years to focus on her family. Since 2017, she has only competed in a handful of matches, including a brief return in 2021 and teaming with her husband, The Miz, against Edge and Beth Phoenix at WWE Royal Rumble 2022. Although she occasionally attends WWE events, she has not wrestled since that bout.
Speaking to PEOPLE during the WWE RAW on Netflix premiere, Maryse reflected on her decision to prioritize her children over her in-ring career.
“As much as we love what we do, the kids are now priority and number one,” Maryse explained. “So we have to prioritize them in every single aspect. Especially as a woman, it’s difficult with two kids. I can’t travel the way [I used to] … And then I don’t want to.”
Maryse emphasized her desire to be present for her children, adding, “I want to be there for my kids. And that’s what makes me happy. I want to go to bed at night and know that I’m in the same house as my kids, so as much as I love the business — I miss it — I choose my kids.”
Meanwhile, her husband The Miz hinted at a new reality show. The couple previously starred in Miz & Mrs., which offered a behind-the-scenes look at their lives. Speaking to PEOPLE, The Miz teased, “We can’t really … We can tease it. So maybe. Maybe you’ll hear about some things. Keep your eyeballs open for a new show with The Miz and Maryse.”
While Maryse has stepped away from full-time wrestling, her presence remains felt in WWE, and fans may soon see more of the couple in a new television venture.
