Malakai Black’s AEW Status Fuels Speculation of WWE Return – With WrestleMania season underway, WWE may soon see the return of a familiar face. According to recent reports, Malakai Black could be finishing his time with AEW, sparking rumors of a possible WWE comeback.
Fightful Select had previously noted that several within AEW believed Black was either wrapping up his tenure or had already departed. Despite Tony Khan’s statement that Black is under contract until 2027, Black is not expected to return to AEW, though he remains listed on the company’s website.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that while the backstage belief is that Black is done with AEW, no one would officially confirm the situation. Meltzer stated, “It’s been reported elsewhere, and one person close to the situation said they were confirming it to us, but when we asked officially there was neither a confirmation nor a denial. Nobody expects him back.”
Additionally, Meltzer noted renewed interest in Black within WWE’s creative team. He wrote, “That’s been the case for a while, but evidently there has been talk in WWE creative about him of late.”
Years ago, Black was among the AEW talent reportedly contacted by WWE when Triple H assumed control of main roster creative. If Black’s AEW departure becomes official, he would be a notable addition to WWE’s roster, bringing back his unique persona and in-ring prowess.
As WrestleMania approaches, Black’s potential return adds another layer of excitement to the already unpredictable road to WWE’s biggest event of the year.
