John Cena a Top Contender to Win This Year’s WWE Royal Rumble – John Cena officially began his highly anticipated retirement tour on Monday night’s premiere episode of WWE RAW on Netflix. During his emotional appearance, Cena announced his entry into the upcoming Royal Rumble Match, boldly proclaiming his intent to win the bout and headline WrestleMania 41. The winner of the Rumble will have the opportunity to challenge either GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship or Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
Cena’s declaration reignited excitement over his pursuit of a historic 17th world title, a milestone that would break his tie with Ric Flair for the most reigns in WWE history. Recent reports have indicated that WWE is planning a Cena vs. Rhodes showdown for WrestleMania 41, though it remains uncertain whether Cena will secure his spot by winning the Royal Rumble or through another path. Traditionally, WWE uses the Elimination Chamber at its February Premium Live Event to determine the second WrestleMania title challenger, leaving the door open for multiple scenarios.
Cena also referenced his struggles in recent high-profile matches, adding a layer of intrigue to his quest for one final championship triumph.
On SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Q&A, WrestleVotes commented on Cena’s status as a top contender for the Royal Rumble victory. “Yeah, especially after that promo last night [when asked if he thinks Cena is winning the Royal Rumble.] I think everybody in attendance live gave him the reaction that he was looking for, and they want to see number 17. So, you know, we had heard that he was one of the leaders in the clubhouse prior to last night. And I think last night only solidified that he’s probably choice 1 or 1A, so yeah, I’d say it looks good at this point.”
Cena’s retirement tour promises to be a defining chapter in his storied career, with fans eagerly awaiting his next move on the road to WrestleMania.
