Joe Hendry Captures TNA World Title – Joe Hendry claimed the TNA World Championship after a hard-fought battle against Nic Nemeth in the main event of TNA Genesis. The match was a showcase of both men’s resilience and determination, culminating in a dramatic finish.
The action started with a series of exchanges, as both competitors locked up, with neither gaining control in the early stages. Hendry eventually transitioned into a headlock, but Nemeth countered with a headscissors, forcing Hendry to kip up. The back-and-forth continued, with both men trading roll-ups and reversals. At one point, Hendry grabbed an arm, but Nemeth fought back with an arm crank, only for Hendry to kip up again and gain the upper hand.
As the match progressed, Nemeth used a variety of moves to wear down Hendry, including his signature “Shot to the Heart” and a Chicken Wing submission that transitioned into a Crossface. Hendry, however, fought back with a series of strikes and big moves like a running cutter and Fallaway Slam, building momentum. Nemeth responded with a superkick and a Danger Zone, nearly securing the victory.
Outside the ring, Frankie Kazarian made his way to ringside with the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Trophy. As Kazarian climbed onto the apron, John Layfield emerged from the crowd and hit Kazarian with his signature Clothesline from Hell. Ryan Nemeth confronted Layfield, only to receive a punch in return before Layfield disappeared through the crowd.
Back in the ring, Nemeth went for his Danger Zone finisher, but Hendry fought back, hitting the Standing Ovation for a two-count. After a tense series of exchanges, Hendry hit a Fallaway Slam and the Standing Ovation once again, this time securing the pinfall to win the TNA World Championship.
Hendry celebrated in the ring, waving the title above his head as the crowd erupted in cheers. He shared an emotional moment with his parents at ringside before heading into the crowd to celebrate with his fans. With the win, Hendry ended Nemeth’s 183-day reign as TNA World Champion, which included eight successful title defenses.
