JBL Wants One More Match with John Cena

JBL Wants One More Match with John Cena – As John Cena approaches what may be his final year in wrestling, many of his most memorable rivalries and partnerships have come back into the spotlight. One of his earliest significant opponents, JBL, recently shared his thoughts on Cena’s storied career and expressed a personal desire to step into the ring with him one more time.

JBL played a pivotal role in Cena’s ascent to the top of WWE. Their rivalry reached its peak at WrestleMania 21, where Cena defeated JBL to win his first WWE Championship, launching a historic run that now includes 16 world title reigns. The two battled numerous times following that pivotal match, creating a lasting connection in WWE history.

On a recent episode of Something To Wrestle With, JBL discussed Cena’s career and was asked if he would want another match with “The Champ.”

JBL responded: “Of course. Yeah, because I think the world of John and I was so happy that I was part of John’s, formative career. I, again, I don’t take any credit for anything. John did. John would be exactly where he is now with or without me. I’m just glad that I was one of the ones that was there at the start. But John’s such a great guy. I mean, everything about him. I mean, the more you know about John, from his Make-A-Wish, what he does, to how he interacts with fans, to how he interacts with talent, what he’s done for talent. I mean, it’s just amazing. It’s not going to happen, by the way. There’s no absolutely zero talk of it.”

Though a rematch seems unlikely, JBL’s admiration for Cena reflects the broader respect the 16-time world champion commands within the industry. As Cena’s farewell year unfolds, tributes from longtime peers will continue to highlight his monumental impact on professional wrestling.
