Christopher Daniels Announces Retirement

Christopher Daniels Announces Retirement – The January 22 episode of AEW Dynamite featured a heartfelt moment as Christopher Daniels, “The Fallen Angel,” officially announced his retirement. Daniels confronted Hangman Adam Page following Page’s swift victory over a local competitor, confirming rumors about his in-ring future.

Daniels revealed that medical advice following his brutal Texas Deathmatch against Page at AEW Collision: Maximum Carnage had forced him to step away from the ring. Reflecting on his storied career, he acknowledged Page’s victory, stating, “I hope you’re happy now,” before thanking fans for their support.

At Maximum Carnage, Daniels endured a relentless onslaught from Hangman including a tombstone piledriver, a Dead Eye, and a Buckshot Lariat, before finally being counted out. Hangman added insult to injury by using Daniels’ own move, the Angel’s Wings, after the match.

Taking to social media, Daniels shared his thoughts: “I’m sad that it’s over. But so very happy that it happened. Thank you all!”

Daniels’ career began in 1993, spanning over three decades and cementing him as a wrestling legend. Competing for top promotions like WWE, WCW, ROH, and TNA, Daniels achieved numerous accolades. In TNA, he helped pioneer the high-flying X-Division, becoming a three-time X-Division Champion. In ROH, Daniels captured the ROH World, TV, and Tag Team Championships.

Beyond his wrestling personas, including the comedic Curry Man and the video game-inspired Suicide in TNA, Daniels played a pivotal role in AEW as one of its first signees in 2019. He contributed both on-screen and backstage, serving as Talent Relations and even as an interim Executive Vice President.

Daniels’ retirement marks the end of an extraordinary journey that inspired generations of wrestlers and fans alike.
