Black Bart Passes Away at 76 – Richard Harris, known to wrestling fans as Black Bart, has passed away at the age of 76. The former professional wrestler had been battling stage 4 liver cancer and chose to discontinue chemotherapy in recent weeks. He had been receiving hospice care before his passing.

Bart’s wife shared the sad news on Facebook, confirming his death. The wrestling world has since been paying tribute to his enduring legacy and contributions to the sport.

The Cauliflower Alley Club, an organization dedicated to preserving the history of professional wrestling, also released a heartfelt statement:

“The Cauliflower Club Alley celebrates the enduring legacy of Black Bart, and extends its heartfelt sympathies to his loved ones and admirers worldwide, honoring the profound impact he left on the lives of so many. Rest in Peace Bart, thank you for the memories.”

JBL also took to X to share his thoughts. He wrote: “Black Bart took me under his wing and taught me how to be a professional wrestler. We were tag champs in Texas-but we were also just buddies. We sat together in the dressing room while Bart spit in his trashcan and constantly joked about everything. Bart meant the world to me. I love you big brother. RIP

Black Bart’s career spanned multiple decades, with notable appearances in World Class Championship Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, and World Championship Wrestling. Known for his cowboy persona and rough, brawling style, Bart held several championships during his time in the ring, including the NWA National Heavyweight Championship. His rivalries with prominent names such as Dusty Rhodes and Ron Bass remain memorable chapters in his storied career.

Beyond the ring, Bart became a respected trainer, sharing his knowledge with a new generation of wrestlers. His contributions to professional wrestling as both a competitor and mentor have left a lasting imprint on the industry.

The wrestling community mourns his loss while celebrating the rich legacy he leaves behind.
