Update on WWE’s Tribal Chief Title Plans – Speculation surrounding the creation of a new WWE championship, dubbed the “Tribal Chief Title,” has been put to rest. Reports last week suggested WWE considered introducing a belt to highlight the ongoing feud between Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa. However, the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirms the title will not materialize.
The feud between Reigns and Sikoa has been a focal point of SmackDown programming for months, with the two battling to establish dominance as the true Tribal Chief. Their rivalry escalated at Survivor Series: WarGames, where Reigns pinned Sikoa during the Men’s WarGames Match, pitting the OG Bloodline, alongside CM Punk, against the New Bloodline with Bronson Reed.
Reigns and Sikoa are set to clash once again in Tribal Combat on the January 6 RAW Netflix debut from Los Angeles. WrestleVotes had previously reported WWE’s consideration of a “Tribal Chief Title,” likened to The Rock’s iconic “People’s Title.”
Dave Meltzer clarified WWE’s decision, writing, “Regarding reports of a new title being added called the Tribal Chief Title, we’re told that’s not happening either. Now will guys feud over the ula fala, yes, obviously.”
Instead of a championship, the rivalry will center on the symbolic ula fala, underscoring the cultural significance of the feud and maintaining its deeply personal narrative.
