Ryan Nemeth Files Complaint Against CM Punk Alleging Abuse and Harassment – The controversy surrounding CM Punk’s time in AEW has sparked new issues, with Ryan Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler’s brother) filing a formal complaint in September 2023 alleging abuse, harassment, and threats from Punk. Nemeth’s complaint also accuses AEW of failing to address his concerns, leaving him sidelined and fearing for his career.
Nemeth first reached out to AEW’s legal department in April 2023, expressing concerns that Punk might target him. In his complaint, he described a locker room encounter in June where he says Punk threatened him. While some AEW talents, including Tony Schiavone and the Young Bucks, offered support, Nemeth claims he felt increasingly isolated after not being booked for two months. He suspected AEW planned to let his contract expire without renewal as a form of retaliation.
The situation worsened in August when Nemeth was removed from an AEW event at Punk’s request. He was also allegedly instructed to cut a promo antagonizing Punk, who was AEW World Champion at the time. Despite escalating his concerns to AEW Legal and HR, Nemeth says no action was taken. He alleges the departure of legal rep Megha Parekh further complicated his efforts, leaving him with new contacts who failed to address his complaints.
Following Punk’s altercation with Jack Perry at All Out, Nemeth’s concerns deepened. In conversations with AEW’s outside counsel, he alleges no resolution was reached, leading to his final AEW match in November 2023. With his contract expiring in March 2024, Nemeth claims AEW offered a settlement worth three years of salary, contingent on signing a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). He rejected the offer, and his legal team says the proposal is no longer on the table.
Nemeth also alleges that Chris Peck, AEW’s legal representative, threatened him with a lawsuit after he submitted his timeline of events. He contends that other talent shared similar concerns with Peck, but their grievances were ignored. Despite the challenges, Nemeth expressed gratitude for his colleagues, emphasizing the need for a safer work environment.
AEW has yet to issue a public statement. We will provide updates as this story develops.
